Finalist project in the idea selection and assignment for the preliminary design and feasibility study in the second phase
Invitation tender issued by the OPBG, Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù, for the design of a new extension and development pavilion of the hospital n Palidoro.
The project, selected in the first phase and among the finalists in the second, proposed the creation of a building closely tied to the existing one which brought together the needs of high-technology healthcare enhancement with a humane approach, as well as the confort and welcome owed to the little patients, their families and the staff that works there with dedication, skill and passion.
The proposed project was studied to set up the conditions for a general functional and organisational reordering of the hospital sector and it developed the compositional theme of the waterfront and the landscape in reference to the hills of Lazio, with an open, transparent volume that adds value to the internal spaces and the views for all the guests of he structure, but at the same time light and easily inserted into the context.
On the sea-facing side the materials are noble and durable, with simple, elegant lines and transparent surfaces, modular light and illumination systems, tenuous colours that are in harmony with the earth, the water and the sky, all give form and space to the building which is sustainable and welcoming.
