Implementation plan in Cisanello, Pisa
Feasibility study and implementation plan
From Santa Chiara to Cisanello: a bridge for the integrated hospital
The feasibility study for the future integrated university hospital of Cisanello, in Pisa, defined the optimal organisational and functional characteristics for one of the most important teaching and research hospitals in Italy and worldwide. The analyses and meta-design developed supported complex institutional governance work which led to the agreement among the 13 organisations, from the Tuscan regional government to the waterway safety authority, for the creation of a new campus with the union of three hospitals and a new faculty of medicine, the famous closely integrated Pisa school of medicine.
Based on the agreement reached, the implementation plan was drafted and approved by the Pisa City council. The plan fixed the urbanisation and infrastructure conditions for its creation, defining the standards, the flexibility, the facilities and the services required for the successive implementation.
