Private Villa in Bibbiano

An exclusive living solution, uniting tradition and innovation

The project is for a private residence with a garden nestled in a green area and well delimited which gives it intimacy and privacy. It is located in the historical centre of Bibbiano, just a few meters from the house where the 19th century physicist Giovan Battista Venturi was born, next to an antique villa with a centenary park and in continuity with the same.

The architectural layout is divided into two main blocks in an “L” shape around a large garden. The first block has two floors and contains the main rooms of the house, while the second of only one floor with a mezzanine is for service rooms, a gym, a home theatre and a large living room. The two blocks are connected on the ground floor by a long continuous pathway, mostly in glass, which goes from the entrance to the living room for events and welcoming guests. It also acts as a filter and interchange between the internal rooms and the garden while the second floor of the main building where the bedroom area is, connects to the secondary building with a large open terrace.

Whereas the ground floor is developed around the garden, which is collected and secret, carefully designed with tall trees, flowers, ponds with waterlilies, a barbecue and spaces for outdoor parties, the first floor, with bedrooms and bathrooms, has its windows and balconies looking towards the hills and the castles of Matilda of Tuscany which are not far away, looking over a surrounding wall which protects the intimacy of the house.

The look of the villa clearly mirrors the traditional Reggio Emilia architecture which surrounds it, at the same time reinvented with the elegance of its forms and the careful design of volumes and surfaces developed with deep protrusions, trusses, long visible wooden pitches which correspond to the great care of the interior design. Also the choice of the natural materials, stone, plaster, bricks and wood, as well as the use of traditional building techniques, which come from local memory, give the building a sense of warmth and welcoming, both for daily life and for welcome guests.
