Structural test in progress on the motorway overpass

Static, work in progress test of the “Strada comunale dei Calzoni” overpass at km number229+295, not far from the “Valerio Catullo” airport in Verona.
The project is part of an important program set out by the Autostrada del Brennero (Brenner motorway) for the general requalification and regulation of the overpass bridges to improve traffic safety.
The construction of the new passover was started after the demolition of the original.

The new construction has lateral shoulders, with foundations on columns and a framework with pre-fabricated metal beams, assembled and inserted on location during calculated interruptions of motorway traffic, plus a supporting framework in reinforced concrete.
The checks performed and the load tests were referred to all the supporting frames and were developed following the work progress, from the bored columns to the finished frame.
The bridge has a net span of around 48 meters and a total width of 14 m.
